Ice Report

April 22, 2009

Ice is looking pretty black on area lakes. The smaller lakes will probably be open in the next 3 or 4 days and the larger lakes won't be too far behind. They are talking 70 degree weather tomorrow and rain on the weekend. Get those boats out! It has been a long winter and I think everybody is ready for summer.

We are trying to finish up some repair work and get inventory changed around. Everybody is getting anxious for the opener now. Won't be long.

Good fishing.

Fishing Report

April 15, 2009

Well, with the nice warm weather we are having, ice has melted along most of the area shorelines. Our "Walking on Water" is coming to an end for another season. We will be busy packing up the winter jigs and finding room for all the new summer inventory coming in.

As usual, there are some repairs to be made, tanks to be cleaned and supplies to be ordered. In less then a month the 2009 walleye opener will be here! It's been a long winter and we are all looking forward to the summer fishing season.

Hope to see all our old friends and new ones, again this summer.

Fishing Report

April 8, 2009

We have a few fishermen going out, but all in all, things have been pretty quiet this week. There is still plenty of ice in the middle of the lakes, but you have to watch the landings.

I have seen lots of boats going up and down Highway 371 this week. Some guys are going up to the Rainy River and then others are getting their boats out of storage and getting them all ready for the opener; which isn't that far off!

We will be changing over to Spring inventory the middle of April. We are going to be closed on Easter Sunday. All of us here at Froggy's wish you a blessed Easter.

Good fishing!

Fishing Report

April 3, 2009

Well last Monday night and Tuesday we got about 8 more inches of snow on the ground. Fishing has slowed down some after the new snow. It is a nice sunny day today. I heard of some jumbo perch being caught out on Winnie in about 12 feet of water just off the camp grounds on the west side. There are also some perch biting out on Shingobee Bay on Leech Lake .

Cass Lake and Pike Bay are getting some perch also, but you have to be mobile. There is plenty of ice yet, but you have to watch the landings and the best way to go is with your 4-wheeler.

With the sun shining today, it's nice to get out. I think everyone is getting tired of the long winter and the gray days.

It won't be long and we'll be thinking about getting the boats out!

Good fishing.
