Fishing Report

September 26, 2013

Water temps are still around that 63 degree or so.  Walleye are biting, but will pick up as the temp gets to the middle 50 degree range.  Perch are biting in that 8 to 10 foot range.  Seem to be a lot of perch fishermen out and about.  Weather has been great, so it is nice to enjoy it while we can.  Getting some fish, just makes it better.

Just letting you know the "Old Toad" has been in the hospital and was discharged this afternoon.  He has a blood clot in his right lung and so, getting that dissolved is the top priority.  He is in good spirits and just as honry as ever.  He is anxious to get back to the store.  He is suppose to have limited activity, so we are going to try to get him to go home every afternoon.  Moving around is good for him, but just going at it slow for now.  Thank you for all the calls and good wishes.  He appreciates you all.

Our daughter, Melissa, extended her visit and has been here with us at the hospital and helping out with everything.   Thank you to all our family and friends.  Froggy, Melissa, Ben, Crissy, Melissa M., Auntie Mitz, Dick H., Doug J.  Thanks again to everyone.  Special thanks to our daughter's Alaska boss, for letting her stick around to help us out and a special thanks to Alaska's Captain Ed!  It was a pleasure having him here.

Hope you will get a chance to get out and enjoy some of this beautiful fall weather.

See you out on the water.

Good fishing!

Fishing Report

September 13, 2013

First day of the MWC tournament.  Weather was beautiful and we heard that the local guys all came in with their 5 walleye.  Redtails are worth their weight in gold!  Tomorrow is the last day.  Hope we can get out to the weigh in around 4:30 and see where everyone stands.

Perch are biting in 8 to 10 feet of water.  Walleye are doing okay, but we still are waiting for that water cool down.  Water temp is still around 69 degrees.  Northern are biting.  Muskie have been slow too.

We are waiting for our daughter from Anchorage to arrive this evening.  Am hoping to spend as much time with her as we can.  It has been 7 years since she has been home.  When I talked to her about 4:30, she was in the Minneapolis airport, waiting for their plane to Fargo.

Hope you are all getting a chance to enjoy this great weather.  Won't be long and the leaves will be changing colors.  Life is great!

Froggy is in the bear stand tonight.  Hope he sees something.  Small game opens up too tomorrow.  Hunting will be difficult with all the leaves still on the trees.  Have a good weekend.

See you out on the water.

Good fishing!

Fishing Report

September 9, 2013

Water temps are still in the mid 70's.  Fish are being caught, but it is not going "gang busters".  They are still in that 15 to 18 foot range.

An 8 year old young man, caught a beautiful 27 inch walleye on Saturday, fishing from shore at Knutson Dam!  Now that's what fishing is all about.  Congratulations!  I am hoping that his dad will email us a picture of the fish.  Spinner rigs are still going and shad raps and rapajas in the evening.

Welcome to the pro-fishermen in the area.  The MWC tournament will be this weekend, hosted out of Stony Point Resort.  Good luck to all you fishermen.  It is hard to keep redtails in the store.  We get some, but they are going out as soon as we get them in.  We are hoping to get some more in the next day or two.  We also have some really nice creek chubs.

We are anxiously waiting for our daughter and Captain Ed to come for their visit.  It has been 7 years since we have seen Melissa, so it is about time!  They will be here this weekend.

Froggy and Crissy have been out in the bear stands, but no luck as of yet.  Froggy is back down in the cities working this week and Crissy has school at BSU, but I imagine they will give it another try this coming weekend.

It sounds like the weather will be cooling off by the end of the week.  A good couple weeks of cool weather and the fishing will really pick up.  Our good fall fishing is yet to come.

Thanks to all of you who stop in to say "Hi" and let us know how your doing out on the water.

Good fishing!

Fishing Report

September 3, 2013

Hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend!  Weather has been just great up in northern Minnesota.  Sounds like temps will be around mid 70's and lower 80's the next few days.  Water temps are around that 76 degree range.

We had guys and gals stop by the store yesterday to let us know they were getting walleye on Pike Bay in 15 feet of water, using crawlers and pink spinner baits.   Shad raps and rapajas are working in the evening, along the weed lines.  Cass Lake has been producing walleye shallower, in that 8 to 12 foot range.

Hope you can get out and enjoy this great weather.  Let's hope for a long fall!

See you out on the water.

Good fishing!
