Fishing Report

December 31, 2010

We got a good 10 inches of snow last night, so today was spent plowing. County snow plows were out early this morning, so the highways are all in good shape. Sounds like we are going to get some more snow yet tonight, so I am planning to do more plowing again tomorrow.

Fishing has slowed down some, with this front coming through. It just takes a little longer to get a meal of fish. Quite a few people are spending their New Year's weekend out in their fishing shacks.

We wish you all a safe and happy New Year!

See you out on the ice.

Fishing Report

December 26, 2010

Hope you all had a safe, happy Christmas holiday. It was nice to spend some time with the family. It's always fun watching the kids open up presents. We have a venison roast for dinner and in the afternoon, we got two sleeper houses pulled out on the ice on Allen's Bay. The ice is about 16 inches out there.

The walleye are active just after dark in about 19 feet of water and perch are still hanging in about 12 feet. If your getting small perch, you might want to try up a little shallower.

The sun was shining today and it was just great to get out and enjoy some time in the old fish shack!

Sounds like the weather will be nice the next few days. We wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year coming up this weedend!

See you out on the ice!

Fishing Report

Decembe 23, 2010

Cass Lake and Pike Bay are producing some walleye. Mainly an evening bite and some nice perch on Pike Bay in about 12 feet of water. You have to pick through them, but you can get your limit of perch over that 10 inch range.

We have decided to change our hours for this holiday weekend. Friday will still be 7AM to 4 PM, but we will be open from 7AM to 11AM on Saturday, Christmas Day. We have had quite a few people asking if we would be open and that will still give us the afternoon to spend some time with our family and enjoy the Christmas holiday.

Again, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Keep your stick on the ice!

December 19, 2010

Well the race is on! There are houses and vehicles going out on Pike Bay, Cass Lake and Big Wolf. Average ice is 13 to 17 inches. Fishing is a little slow, but no one is complaining and I think we all are glad to get out and do some fishing!

We will be closing at 4PM on Christmas Eve day and will be closed on Christmas Day. We wish all our friends and family a safe and blessed Christmas Holiday!

Keep your stick on the ice!

Ice Fishing

December 17, 2010

Fishing has been pretty good the last couple of days. I was out on the lake yesterday with my plow truck. Ice is around 13 inches, but as always, use caution. One spot can be different then the other. Houses are going out today and minnows are going out the door. It is good to see the people come in and hear the cash register ring again. That spell between deer hunting and hard water can be a slow time.

Walleye and perch are biting on several area lakes and guys have had some luck in some of my spear houses, with the northerns. All in all everybody is glad to get out and do some fishing.

See you on the ice!

Ice Fishing

December 14, 2010

It is slowly starting to warm up. At least the sun has been out the last couple of days.

They have been picking up some walleye out on Cass Lake. Allen's Bay has 10 inches of ice, but again you have to always be careful. We are going to give it a few more days before going out with any vehicles.

Haven't heard too much about the perch yet. The weekend is suppose to be warmer, so fishing should be improving.

I am having a fish fry tonight for some guys who had rented my spear houses the last couple of days. Fishing out on the ice, food and friends, what more can we ask for.

See you out on the ice.

Ice Fishing

December 12, 2010

The guys in my rental spear houses have been getting some nice northerns. Things were slow today, I think because of the cold spell that arrived. Sounds like Wednesday it will warm up some, so I expect fish to run again. We are going out with 4 wheelers and snowmobiles, no vehicles yet. Ice is getting better each day, but you still have to be careful.

I have been working on one of my angling houses, putting in new carpet, one burner cook stove and stereo. When I'm not on the lake, I've been working on my houses in my garage. Keeps me busy. Ice fishing season seems to go so quickly, we have to make each day count.

See you on the ice!

Ice is getting thicker every day and everyone is anxious to get out and give it a try. I have been busy getting out my fish houses in the afternoons. If your interested in a fish house rental, give me a call. It is good to be able to get out and think about fishing again.

Spear Houses Out!

Today I got 3 of my spear houses set up on the lake. Ice is about 5 inches thick. Always remember to be careful. Ice is never a sure thing.

There are portables going out on south landing on Pike Bay. I am hearing the ice is around 6 inches there. This cold weather is making ice each day. If you might be interested in renting a fish house, give me a call at the store, 218-335-6800, or call my cellphone, 218-766-2926.

Ice Report

December 3, 2010

We had a couple of groups of guys going out spearing on Winnie today. The way it sounds, the water by Third River is still pretty cloudy.

I am going to try to get a couple of my spear houses out tomorrow. We have our decoy minnows in now and we also have cisco's, which are an excellent northern bait.

I heard ice out on Pike Bay is about 3 to 4 inches . Sounds like you can walk out, but you want to watch where you are going. I guess that goes for all the lakes right now. Give it another week and things should be really looking up.

Keep your stick on the ice!

Ice Report

December 1, 2010

With all the snow we have gotten, ice conditions are not the best. I am going to wait a couple of days and then see if I can get a couple of my spear houses out. There are some guys spearing up on Third River, but not much happening on the other area lakes. Lets see what a couple of days will do.

Stay up on the ice!
