Fishing Report

December 31, 2013

Well, another year gone.  Boy time sure does fly.  We are in the middle of a real cold snap.  I can't remember so many below zero days for a December, in a long time.  Good thing, it is making ice!  Portables are still going out with snowmobiles and 4 wheelers.  Froggy has been going on a packed road with his Jeep.  Ice there is about 15 inches.  We will let you know if anyone starts going out by this weekend.

Fishing seems to have slowed down some with the cold weather.  Froggy has a group coming up this weekend.  We will let you know how they do.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all!

Good fishing!

Fishing Report

December 28, 2013

Still a challenge, getting out on the lake.  We are hearing of more guys getting out though, with snowmobiles and their portables.  Good thing is that they are all reporting GOOD FISHING!  After all the work getting out to some of their spots, I am glad to hear that it is paying off.

We had guys reporting Steamboat was doing well and Cass Lake just before dark in 15 feet of water, was producing some nice limits of walleye.

We are hoping that with the couple days of warm temps and now a "Good Old Minesota Cold Spell" coming in for the next several days, that it will help the slush and snow conditions on area lakes.  We will do our best to keep you informed.

Good fishing!

Fishing Report

December 23, 2013

We got an ice report and fishing report from Froggy today, so here goes:

"There is about 12 inches of ice on average, with some slushy spots.  Snowmobile is still the way to travel.  Spearing has been good.  I have out 15 rental houses."

Be cautious and stay safe!  We are wishing you all a Merry Christmas!

Fishing Report

December 20, 2013

Guys are starting to take houses out and bait has been going out of the store.  Still using snowmobiles though.  Making a trail and using it after it freezes.  Continus checking ice depth and slushy spots.

We will keep you updated.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BEN!

Fishing Report

Not too much new to report today.  Going is still tough out on the area lakes.  Snowmobiles are the way to go for now.  A few more guys are starting to venture out, so maybe we will have more to report in a few days.

Froggy's will be closing at noon on Christmas Eve Day and we will be closed Christmas Day.  It is always a special day to spend with family.  Our oldest grandson, Jerimiah, will be missed.  He is deployed  in Egypt.  Merry Christmas to all.  Have a blessed and safe holiday.

Fishing Report

December 13, 2013

For those fishermen who are venturing out on the ice, they are saying that the fishing has been good.  No one is driving out because of all the snow, water in some spots and average ice is around that 8 inches.  Guys are making paths with snowmobiles or 4 wheelers, letting them freeze and then going from there.  With all the snow, ice conditons aren't the best, so you have to be careful where you go and make sure you check out the ice depth.

Be safe!  See you out on the ice.

Fishing Report

December 7, 2013

Froggy posted a nice picture of fish caught today on facebook page.  He said it is hard going because of the snow, but the fishing is good!  We are hearing an average of 8 inches of ice and some spots where there if water.  I would hope with this cold weather we are having that it would help that problem.  But then again, we did get a lot of snow.  We will keep you informed.

See you out on the lake!

Good fishing!

Snow Report

De cembe 5, 2013

Our total snow is between 18 and 20 inches.  Everyone has been plowing and shoveling to beat the band.  This is where the true acts of kindness really shine!  Froggy's plow truck is down and getting repaired and we have to thank neighbors and friends for pitching in and helping out where needed!  Mother Nature can be tough, but the goodness in people's heart's always shines through.  I do have to say, with the sun shining today, it really is a beautiful winter wonderland.  Now comes the cold and that will surely help with the ice conditions.

Al from Sunset Cove was in yesterday and said that his boys are catching some fish and so far, he has no water up in the house.  Then again, I have heard of some guys who are having a water problem and have to lift up the houses.  One day at a time.

Will try to keep you up on snow and ice condtions, as soon as we hear anything.

Good fishing!

Snow Report

December 3, 2013

Plows and shovels were at work today.  We must have about 9 inches of new snow and they say we have more coming tonight.  This isn't helping the ice on the lakes at all.  Weather is suppose to get real cold starting tomorrow night.  That will make more ice, but we still have to deal with the snow on top of it all.  Oh well, we're Minnesotan's, we're tough!  Mother Nature has her own plan for us to deal with.

Keep safe.

PS  Happy Birthday to Froggy's wife,  Melissa, who turns 34 today!

Fishing Reeport

December 2, 2013

We had a couple guys in yesterday, who were getting some perch out on Pike Bay.  They were going out the south end.  Everyone is starting to get out on the lakes.  Ice is ice, so please be careful!

We woke up to around 3 inches of new snow this morning and sounds like we have more to come.  Froggy is getting his plow truck ready to go and taking care of his fish houses.  The Old Toad and I will be doing some clean up today at the store.  Grandson, Ben, will be around to give us a hand after classes today.  Thanks a bunch, Ben!  I guess winter is here to stay.

See you out on the lake!

Good fishing!
