Fishing Report

August 29, 2011

The big Labor Day weekend is just around the corner. Don't know where the whole summer went to.

Fishing out on Cass Lake has been just awesome. Using crawlers and working breaks and bars in that 18 to 25 foot range has been really producing the walleye. Afternoon and evening seem to be the best time of day. In the evening they are working the weed lines, using shad raps and rapajas. We are hoping for the bite to continue, as the cooler weather comes and water temps cool off some. Right now the water temp is about 73 degrees. Hope you will get a chance to get out there and enjoy some really good fishing.

Have a safe and happy holiday.

See you out on the water.

Good fishing!

Fishing Report

August 25, 2011

Fishing is doing well. Crawlers are the ticket on Cass, working that 18 to 20 foot depth, off the breaks and bars. Northern have been biting also. It seems that big sucker minnow and a bobber are doing the trick. It sounds like we will be getting cooler weather next week. The best is yet to come.

We are gearing up for the last holiday of the summer. Don't know where the time has gone. Hope you will stop in and say Hi when you're in the area.

Bear hunting will be opening in a week. My daughter, Crissy, is going to try for her first bear. I'm hoping one will come in to the bait for her.

Hope you will get a chance to get out and enjoy these nice days we are having. See you out on the water.

Good fishing!

Fishing Report

August 17, 2011

Crawlers are still the bait of choice. Fishing has picked up the last couple of days. There have been some nice northern caught. Walleye seem to be more active. Still working that 8 to 10 feet in the evening. Cass and Andrusia have been both doing really well.

Weather has been great, so I hope you get a chance to get out and enjoy the water and the nice evenings.

Our friends from Monticello, Chad Pribyl and his dad, Roger and their families will be up this weekend for their weekly stay in the area. They always have a successful fishing trip and leave with a couple fishing tails to tell. We look forward to seeing them again.

My oldest son leaves for Mesabi Community College tomorrow. Don't know where the time has gone.

See you out on the water.

Good fishing!

Fishing Report

August 12, 2011

Not too much new happening. Water temps are around 78 degrees. Needs to cool down some and fishing should pick up. Best bet for catching those "eyes" are crawlers. They are still out deeper during the day and coming up to the weed lines in the evening. Shad raps in the evening.

They are getting some nice perch and there is northern and bass action. Smaller lakes are producing some panfish also.

Hope you can get out and enjoy some of these nice August days. Don't know where the summer has gone.

Hope to get the boat out on the lake tomorrow afternoon. Even though it's busy, it sure is nice to come home on the weekend and spend some time in good old northern Minnesota!

See you out on the water.

Good fishing,

Fishing Report

August 6, 2011

With the weather fronts coming and going every couple of days, fishing still seems to be doing okay. Walleye seem to be doing the best in the evening, using shad raps and rapajas. Crawlers are still the popular bait.

Some nice size northern have been biting on Leech using the light and heavy northern minnows.

Sounds like we have rain coming again tonight and then the temps for the next few days are going to be in the 70's. Water temps are near 80 degrees now. If minnows are used for bait, don't forget to temper them, so you don't take them from 48 degree water temperature to 80 degree. If we get a few days of cooler weather, that should help the walleye bite also.

See you out on the water.

Good fishing!

Our aprons are on their way from Anchorage, Alaska. Whoooooooopee!! Stop by and check them out. My daughter does such a beautiful job on them and they are such pretty colors. She will also be sending some bags, pillow cases and table runners that she has made.

The aprons sell for $20 and have Froggy's Sports embroidered on them.
