Fishing Report
January 12, 2014
We had good fishing reports yesterday. Fish were biting on Plantanganet, Pike Bay and Cass Lake. Froggy's fishermen did really well with the evening bite on Cass last night. Warmer weather has definitely improved the fishing.
Hope you will get a chance to get to the lake and do some fishing.

Fishing Report

Good news! Froggy has been out plowing roads on the north end of Cass Lake. Things will be opening up now and it sounds like a good weekend, weather wise. Now everybody will be able to get out and about and do some fishing!

Fishing Report
January 6, 2014
Cold, cold and more cold! Temp this morning was 30 below zero and then we have a windchill besides. Sounds like one more really cold day and then weather will start to moderate and sounds really nice for the coming weekend.
Store was really slow today, not many brave soles wanting to brave the cold and wind. Most of the guys are driving out now. Always use caution, ice is never really safe.
Hopefully we will have more to report on fishing in the next couple of days, when fishermen start going out again.

Fishing Report

I suppose you have heard the weather report. It has been so cold and now sounds like it will be even colder the next couple of days. Schools are going to be close state wide on Monday, because of the cold weather.
Froggy has a group of guys up for this weekend and has been busy getting houses opened and filling up more propane for heat. I will try to touch base with him tonight to see how the fishing has been today.
The Old Toad and I are trying to keep things going at the store. I have been spending time sitting by the stove, where it is nice and warm. It reminds me of when we were kids and used to get dressed by the oil burner stove in the morning.
Guys are starting to drive out on some of the lakes, but CAUTION should be used! There is still those slushy spots. I would definitely check out the area before you attempt to drive out there. It is just amazing how the snow insulates that ice, even with all this extreme cold weather we are having.
Everyone be safe and keep warm. Those old snuggies really feel good in this Minnesota weather!

Fishing Report

Well, another year gone. Boy time sure does fly. We are in the middle of a real cold snap. I can't remember so many below zero days for a December, in a long time. Good thing, it is making ice! Portables are still going out with snowmobiles and 4 wheelers. Froggy has been going on a packed road with his Jeep. Ice there is about 15 inches. We will let you know if anyone starts going out by this weekend.
Fishing seems to have slowed down some with the cold weather. Froggy has a group coming up this weekend. We will let you know how they do.

Still a challenge, getting out on the lake. We are hearing of more guys getting out though, with snowmobiles and their portables. Good thing is that they are all reporting GOOD FISHING! After all the work getting out to some of their spots, I am glad to hear that it is paying off.
We had guys reporting Steamboat was doing well and Cass Lake just before dark in 15 feet of water, was producing some nice limits of walleye.
We are hoping that with the couple days of warm temps and now a "Good Old Minesota Cold Spell" coming in for the next several days, that it will help the slush and snow conditions on area lakes. We will do our best to keep you informed.

We got an ice report and fishing report from Froggy today, so here goes:
"There is about 12 inches of ice on average, with some slushy spots. Snowmobile is still the way to travel. Spearing has been good. I have out 15 rental houses."
