Fishing is still going strong. Water temps are around 63 degrees, so the jig and minnow is still working. As soon as the water temps rise, they will be switching over to leeches and crawlers. In fact, we are seeing more leeches and crawlers leaving the store. We also have a river mix that seems to be working well.
Everyone is concerned about the state shutdown and getting DNR licenses. If you are planning to come up this way this weekend, I would suggest getting your license on line. I wouldn't think shutdown would last for too long. I am hoping that these politicians will work together and get things settled. Seems to me there was a shutdown about 5 years ago and it lasted about 10 days. Lets hope they get their act together.
We are wishing everyone a safe and happy 4th of July weekend!

Fishing Report
June 23, 2011
Rain stopped and sun came out this afternoon. It is a picture perfect evening to be out on the water! Sounds like the next couple of days are going to be nice too. Hope you all get a chance to get out and enjoy this weather while you can.
Not too many guys out on the water the last couple of days, but with a few nice days coming up, I am hoping fishing will remain good. Have a great weekend.
Good fishing!

I think the monsoons have hit! Between the wind and the rain today, it was not a good day to be out on the water.
We did have a couple who got some really nice perch on Pike Bay yesterday and one or two brave fishermen who caught a couple walleye this morning. They weren't sure if the fish was really worth the effort though.
Froggy is sitting in a motel room in Bismarck waiting for the rain to quit out there so he can get his job done and get back to the remaining jobs they have in good, old Minnesota! What weather!

Fishing Report

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there. It was a cloudy day today until about 5PM and then the sun came out and it was a really nice evening.
I am heading back to Bismarck this week and hope to get that job done, if the rains hold off.
Fishing has still been doing well. I would say we have about half and half/shiners and leeches going out the door now. We had a couple of guys who did really well with crawlers on Big Wolf. Got some nice walleye. Shiners are slow to come into the traps now.
We have gotten in some more Papa Joe Jigs now and also a tackle box of 100 banana jigs in the most popular colors and sizes. Stop by and take a look.
See you out on the water.

Lots of spot tail shiners going out the door today. We were really busy at the store. Weather is great and fish are biting. They are still in that 10 to 12 foot range. Big tournament going on on Leech Lake this weekend and also Kraus Anderson tournament going on on Lake Bemidji. We do have redtails and creek chubs at the store.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. See you out on the water.

Fishing Report

Fishing is still doing well. Jig and a minnow is still the majority bait being used. There are more leeches and crawlers going out though. Water temps are around that 63 degree range. Temps have gone down a couple degrees with this cool weather front that we are in.
All in all the fish are still cooperating, as long as the wind dies down so the boats can get out on the lake and hit their favorite spots. The best walleye fishing seems to be in that 20 to as shallow as 7 foot range.

Fishing Report
June 5, 2011
Another great weekend in good old Minnesota! We are getting nothing but good reports about the area fishing. It makes you wonder how long can this really last? Guys are still going with that jig and minnow, although there are a few leeches and crawlers going out the door. Sounds like the walleye are a little deeper, around that 15 to l8 feet and shallower on the windy days.
Weather is good and fishing is even better. Helps to forget that really long winter that we had.
My oldest son, Jerimiah, graduated from Bemidji High School this weekend. The graduation ceremony was really nice and we are so proud of him. Where has the time gone?
I am heading back to Bismarck for another week, or maybe two. Then I should be burying cable in Menagha, which won't be so far from home.
Hope you all got time to enjoy the great weather and fishing this weekend.
Good fishing!
See you out on the water.
